ATM troubleshooting
The procedure for finding what happened on an ATM transaction is as follows.
In System Monitor use query builder to list the transaction. A void code other than 0 should be listed on the transaction void code column. If you double click on a number in this field the void code definition will be displayed. Void code numbers are also printed on customer receipts. Below are the typical void codes with explanations.
Once you have the reason for the error in the transaction you can review the Statuses the ATM sent out at the time the error occurred. Double click on the ATM then choose the tab Terminal Statuses. You will see things like “cassette 1 no dispense”, “routine dispenser errors”, etc… If the error is Dispenser Failure or Cassette Failure then the Server has taken the device-listed offline. You can clear the fitness table of the ATM and try again; this will give the system a chance to fix itself. If the error occurs again then intervention will be needed, call first line maintenance to clear the problem “i.e. money jam”. If it happens often you have a problem and 2nd line maintenance will need to be called.
ATM common Void Codes
614
No Dispense had taken place:
the ATM does not always count the correct cash on the first try. The dispenser will try 3 times to dispense and if the third attempt is not successful the card will be returned to the customer with a 614 error code. This does not mean the system is broken, the customer should put the card back into the ATM to get the cash. System Statuses should show cassette X no dispense, routine dispenser errors.
112
Card Closed:
This card has already been paid. The system will only pay cards with the same data on them once.
317
Invalid Transaction Type:
The system does not recognize this card. Make them a new card.
If the system just spits the card out and nothing shows up on the query builder, then the system does not recognize this card ether. Make them a new card.
607
The system cannot dispense the amount of bills or coins requested:
Lets say you are trying to pay $999.00 and you run out of $50’s. You would first get a 614 “cannot dispense” and the 50 cassette would come offline. When the card was reinserted you would get a 607 because you can only dispense 40 bills at a time. $999.00 is more than 40 bills when paying with $20.00 dollar bills. You will get the same error if you are out of $1’s or your 1 cassette failed and you requested $11.00.
681
Bills Retracted after Presentation:
The system will only hold the bills out so long before it pulls them back in. If the cash is not taken out of the presenter the ATM will eventually pull the money back in.
